Concept of 10-Minute City CitraRaya, Minister of Transportation Says This

Ciputra Group, the developer of the 2,760-hectare CitraRaya project, has implemented the 10-Minute City concept in their real estate development in Cikupa, Tangerang, Banten.
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi was invited to deliver remarks at the launch event of the 10-Minute City concept, which took place at the CitraRaya site on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
By implementing this concept, Ciputra aims to create a city where various facilities can be accessed by residents within an average of 10 minutes, whether by walking, cycling, private vehicle, or public transportation.
The Transportation Minister expressed appreciation for the 10-Minute City concept at CitraRaya, noting that it has the potential to improve the quality of life for the community.
"This concept not only makes it easier for the community to access various facilities in CitraRaya within 10 minutes, but it also has the potential to improve the quality of life and build a more environmentally friendly community," said Budi Karya in a written statement from the Ministry of Transportation's Bureau of Communication and Public Information.
However, the Minister emphasized that the success of the 10-Minute City concept is highly dependent on the availability of public transportation. Therefore, the developer is expected to collaborate with the government to provide these facilities.
"The Ministry of Transportation continues to encourage all parties to provide adequate mass transportation infrastructure, not only in Tangerang but across Indonesia," added Budi Karya, who previously held an executive position at a property development company before becoming a minister.
The Minister also explained that the increase in urbanization in Indonesia, including in the Jabodetabek area, without sufficient land provision, can trigger the phenomenon of "urban sprawl," exacerbating traffic congestion and damaging the environment.
To address this issue, the Minister stressed the need for sustainable city planning and an improvement in public transportation services.
Budi Karya expressed hope that the 10-Minute City concept implemented in CitraRaya can serve as a model for other cities in Indonesia.
The event was attended by various stakeholders, including the Acting Regent of Tangerang Andi Ony, the Secretary of the Directorate General of Land Transportation Tatan Rustandi, the Secretary of the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) Dedy Cahyadi, the Managing Director of Ciputra Group Budiarsa Sastrawinata, and the Senior Director Agussurja Widjaja.
